We all come to yoga for different reasons. Maybe we are seeking a physical transformation, maybe we want to become more conscious of our thoughts or maybe we have a desire to reconnect with our community and our divine source.
Yoga originated in India, several thousand years ago and it is a path that seeks to harmonize body, mind, and spirit through physical discipline, movement, meditation and breath control. When practiced with a healthy attitude, balanced action and good alignment, yoga connects us with the source and deepens our relationship to our own bodies. Yoga is a wonderful way to relax, renew and explore the freedom within. We often say that for every hour we practice yoga, we get two hours in return!

New to Yoga:
There are many different styles of yoga but all have the same goal of uniting and strengthening the mind, body and spirit. Depending on specific needs, we offer fast-paced or vigorous classes, as well as gentle classes, yoga therapy and prenatal classes. At Yoga of Sausalito, our focus is on quality and safety of instruction. Our teachers are dedicated to providing a positive experience, not just for beginners but also for all yoga practitioners who would like to refresh their knowledge.
For beginners, we either recommend taking our Yoga 101 workshop offered once a month, or booking a few private yoga sessions with one of our yoga teachers. We offer regularly scheduled Level 1/2 yoga classes each week. Yoga 101 and level 1 classes are a perfect place to explore the basic yoga fundamentals of alignment, action, breath and meditation. Please refer to our schedule for the next Yoga 101 workshop.
Yoga is fun, and anyone can develop a personal practice. Each and every individual brings different strengths to yoga. Very flexible people work toward building strength and steadfastness, and those with tighter bodies work toward finding more freedom in the body. Everyone will benefit from the skillfully taught classes at Yoga of Sausalito.
Just show up in comfortable clothes. We provide yoga mats for $1 and complementary filtered water and tea. Yoga is practiced in bare feet.
